Multifractality nature of microtubule dynamic instability process

چکیده

The irregularity of growing and shortening patterns observed experimentally in microtubules their ensembles reflects a dynamical system that fluctuates stochastically between assembly disassembly phases. time series microtubule lengths have been extensively analyzed to shed light on structural properties microtubules. Here, for the first time, Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation analysis (MFDFA) has employed investigate multifractal topological both experimental simulated series. We find dependence length possesses true characteristics cannot be described by mono-fractal distributions. Based spectrum profile, set indices calculated can related level processes also show resulting spectra data might not comparable with data.

Microtubule dynamic instability

What are microtubules? One of three types of protein polymer that make up the cellular cytoskeleton, an elaborate array of filaments that are used to establish cell shape, facilitate cell motility, organize organelles and assist with cell division. Microtubules are stiff tubes, about 25 nm in diameter. During interphase, they serve as tracks on which organelles and the nucleus are positioned by...

Regulation of microtubule dynamic instability.

Proper regulation of MT (microtubule) dynamics is essential for various vital processes, including the segregation of chromosomes, directional cell migration and differentiation. MT assembly and disassembly is modulated by a complex network of intracellular factors that co-operate or antagonize each other, are highly regulated in space and time and are thus attuned to the cell cycle and differe...

Generation of microtubule stability subclasses by microtubule- associated proteins: implications for the microtubule "dynamic instability" model

We have developed a method to distinguish microtubule associated protein (MAP)-containing regions from MAP-free regions within a microtubule, or within microtubule sub-populations. In this method, we measure the MAP-dependent stabilization of microtubule regions to dilution-induced disassembly of the polymer. The appropriate microtubule regions are identified by assembly in the presence of [3H]...

Analysis of a mesoscopic stochastic model of microtubule dynamic instability.

A theoretical model of dynamic instability of a system of linear one-dimensional microtubules (MTs) in a bounded domain is introduced for studying the role of a cell edge in vivo and analyzing the effect of competition for a limited amount of tubulin. The model differs from earlier models in that the evolution of MTs is based on the rates of single-mesoscopic-unit (e.g., a heterodimer per proto...

Microtubule dynamic instability: the role of cracks between protofilaments.

Microtubules (MTs) are cytoplasmic protein polymers that are essential for fundamental cellular processes including the maintenance of cell shape, organelle transport and formation of the mitotic spindle. Microtubule dynamic instability is critical for these processes, but it remains poorly understood, in part because the relationship between the structure of the MT tip and the growth/depolymer...
